Good, clean maximal-epic superhero fun! A movie so, uh, *max*imal the epilogue is an *epic* half-hour…so epic-logue, then 😂?

G*d bless Snyder giving it his customary turn-it-up-to-eleven maximal effort for... no pay…wha😳?! Millions of agents suddenly cried out in terror!

Last we left it, #JusticeLeague was destroying #DC, and now in the brave new digital streaming future (ya know, of the make-your-own kind🤣) it's risen from the proverbial ashes and created a home from such cinematic ash as corporate overlord dreams are made of…or sumthin'🤷‍♀️

Speaking of Corporate, I guess #Marvel's not the only one good at creating an infinite CU, and like Feige, Snyder had the, ahem, cojones to have the kids take over for the A-listers and let the backbenchers shine. And yo, time travel!, so Flashpoint Paradox... see DC's getting the hang of this whole seeding-future-CU-installations thing😼!

Speaking of backbenchers, Quicksilver, er I mean, #Flash, I mean Flash😇 effects were super-awesome, but, uh, stroking the girl's hair, a bit, uh, icky, no😬?

But, dude, duuuuuuuuuuude, I don't know how he did it, but Snyder completely, ahem, salvaged #Cyborg! The dude steals the entire, epic show! Man, I can't wait for *his* standalone movie…there's no way the AT&T/WB/DC corporate machine can screw that up huh? Huh? Huh?

One minor quibble, dude, everyone loves a #Batfleck comeback, sure, but, umm, what exactly does #Batman do again?!!! Anything🤔?!!!!!

But, ya know, seriously, massive kudos to everyone involved, they'll be talking about this comeback in Geek MFA / Business MBA classes for *years* to come!

Like I said, G*d bless Snyder!

#Ammonite Really moving film, that, like its titular, er fossils, right?, once you get past its sharp, weather-beaten exterior, you'll be rewarded with what you find at its central emotional core. Sadly, the film was unfairly overlooked due to the unfair, reductive comparisons to #PortraitOfALadyOnFire, which is too bad, man, too bad indeed. Much credit to the awesome sound design and the bone-chilling cinematography (it is the English seaside, after all🥶). Credit, of course, to the supporting cast too: Jones, Shaw, Secareanu, McArdle. But, wow, Ronan & Winslet, perfectly at odds, perfectly matched, perfectly wonderful. Give Winslet so much credit, turning in one fiercely, committed performance after another, and, sadly, without any of the #Oscar scenery-chewing that gets one #Oscars nods. RIP #MichaelApted One of my *very* favourite directors, without me even realising it! Of course, he was responsible for one of the most staggering achievements in cinema history: The Up Series. It's a crime that neither he nor the series was every recognised by the #Oscars. Seriously, what an omission. It was thanks to my film school professor #JedDannenbaum(RIP…sigh…) that I found out about this monumental documentary series (and almost everything else about docs, what a great teacher!). TBH and I devoured the ones that had come out up to that point, and we made the trek to the movie theatre(sigh…) for every installment after that. It wasn't just about life, it kinda *was* life itself, no?, spurring you to put your own life under the introspective microscope in seven-year chunks. We even met the great man himself; he couldn't have been kinder, or more patient(he must've heard my questions like a billion times before). But, ya know what, after the Up series ...

#Voyagers Good, clean #LordOfTheFlies YA poli-sci-fi fun. Expert craftsmanship, especially when you consider the budget for indie-sci-fi's. Beautiful work by the DP(well-lit scenes so you don't have to squint, imagine that?, and those richly saturated colours!), composer(not resorting to easy sci-fi tropes), and esp the drool-worthy production design(that, too, on a budget!). And, to top it all off, expert sound design by Hsu, the hardest-working (sound)man in the indie film biz👏!
